He's Out of the Highlands and on the Prowl...

Regina Talbot-Jones has always known her rambling family home was haunted. She's also aware her brother has invited one of his friends to attend an ill-conceived séance. She didn't count on that friend being so handsome...and she certainly didn't expect him to be a dragon.

Younger son of a family of shapeshifting dragons, Highlander Colin MacAlasdair has lived a life free of both family duty and mortal cares. Moving in and out of human society as he wishes, he takes very little seriously—until Regina drops onto his balcony one midnight, catching his attention and his interest. She's like no mortal he's ever met, and no matter how hard he tries, he can't seem to get her out of his head.

Bound by circumstance, drawn by the fire awakening inside of them, Colin and Regina must work together to defeat a vengeful spirit—and discover whether their growing love is powerful enough to defy convention.

Cooper’s second Highland Dragon paranormal historical (after Legend of the Highland Dragon) brings all the drama of a gothic thriller while delivering plenty of steamy passion. Regina Talbot-Jones returns to the family country estate in Victorian-era England to take part in an investigation of the property’s supposed haunting. Colin MacAlisdair is a guest of Regina’s brother. Though both pretend to be ordinary humans, they have secrets that come to light when the ghost stories prove true. Cooper wisely reveals these secrets in the first chapter, allowing the adventure to proceed apace and the principal characters to communicate freely without dissembling. Regina and Colin are both refreshingly capable of deep feeling as well as heroic daring. Cooper clearly has a good time putting a twist on historical romance, and she invites the reader to join in on the humor, thrills, and dangers with equal pleasure.

Reggie Talbot-Jones is not your average Victorian woman. She is snarky, adventurous, and has the ability to enter a person's mind simply by touchinghis or her skin . Imagine her surprise when she bumps into her house guest and discovers that he is not a man but a dragon. Colin MacAlasdair knows a fair amount about magic, so when he is invited to Whitehill, the Talbot-Jones family's haunted country manor, he jumps at the chance. He did not expect to find a confident woman with her own mystical abilities, nor did he expect to encounter a truly malevolent spirit dwelling on the Whitehill grounds. Reggie and Colin grow close as they work with their comrades to exorcise the evil ghost and soon realize that the dark magic at play is more threatening than anyone bargained for. This is the second book in Cooper's Highland Dragon series, following Legend of the Highland Dragon (2013). With a well-developed plot and rich language, Cooper's tale is rooted in romantic suspense and aligned with fantasy, making for an excellent crossover.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2014, American Library Association.)
