Reed is chairman of Reed Specialist Recruitment, a large European recruitment service, and coauthor of Put Your Mindset To Work. Following an introductory chapter, this book is organized into five chapters: Classic Interview Questions ("The Fateful 15"), Career Goal Questions, Character Questions, Competency Questions, and Curveball and Creativity Questions. Each of the 101 queries contains "The Real Question" (i.e., what the interviewer is really asking), the "Top Line Tactic" (i.e., what the applicant should accomplish in his/her response), a discussion, and one or more examples of effective replies. Unlike similar books by authors with no apparent experience, Reed's work successfully conveys extensive firsthand knowledge of recruitment practices and interview tactics. The British vernacular (e.g., "CV" vs. "resume," "holiday" vs. "vacation") and references to British companies, universities, and cities are not an impediment to the American reader. VERDICT This well-written and well-organized volume is strongly recommended for anyone preparing for a job interview.--Alan Farber, Univ, of North Carolina, Chapel Hill
