Haymore's second in the House of Trent series, after The Duchess Hunt (2013), takes up where the first book left off. Lord Lukas, current heir to his brother, the duke, is a dissolute rake with a mission to find their missing mother. He's on the trail of Roger Morton, who may or may not have abducted her, and he hopes to be closing in on this slippery man. Also in search of Morton is Emma Curtis, whose family fortune was stolen by her late husband, a compatriot of Morton's. If she can find Morton, she thinks, she'll be able to find the money and return it to her father, thereby improving his frail health. When they learn of each other's quests, Luke and Emma decide to join forces even though it means that they will be traveling and staying together. Slowly, the troubled Luke falls under Emma's gentle guidance and starts to believe that true happiness might be his. Haymore continues her ongoing series about the hunt for a missing duchess in an installment that will leave her readers wanting more.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2013, American Library Association.)
