Fliegerhorst Kaserne is an ex-military airfield and barracks, located beside Erlensee, Germany. The airfield was originally built by the Nazi's in the later part of the 1930's. After World War II, the US Military used this base from 1945 until 2007. This time period included the Cold War, the Gulf War and the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
In 2007 the US handed back the buildings and land to the Germany people, in control of the local government. Since then, very little has been done with this land.
In 2019 I started researching and documenting the area and the facilities still standing, abandoned. "Fliegerhorst Kaserne volume i" is a collection of images from the first phase of my ongoing photographic documentation of the ex-US Military bases in Germany.
